SOCIAL MEDIA...KILLING REAL-LIFE COMMUNICATION?

Is it just me or has the level at which people communicate these days been sabotaged by social media?
Just some hours ago, I was chatting with one of my long time friends and he was telling me how bored he is that over a year he has not met someone new. I actually laughed because my case is worse, I have not met someone new in two years. When I say ''met'',I am not talking about meeting on social platforms, I mean real life conversation like the old fashioned way.
I know that sounds funny, but 80% of my friends are on social media, we chat all day about most things and we are actually not chatting about ''all things''. Just the latest gossip and news. Social media has taken the fun out of everything real.

Do not get me wrong, Social media is Dope! It has given us so many opportunities to connect with wide range of audiences almost all at once like I am given a chance to share this with you guys. But the real fun is zapped out because of it.

Look at it from this angle, you meet someone on social media, you talk and chat. Discuss about almost everything for hours and what happens when you finally meet? There is absolutely nothing to talk about or worst, you find out the illusion you created in your head about the person is not actually what it is real life. Before you know it, you are bored!

As a matter of fact, some peeps do not even know how to create a conversation real life like they do on social platforms. If they can even start a conversation, they don't know how to keep up with it(me inclusive, lmao!)

I think something should be done about this. The bottom line is we can't stop tweeting, chatting, taking selfies, ''instagraming'' (oh hell nah!). But we can work on our relationship with people outside the online world, you know, outside the social media world.
What do you think guys? Drop your comments..

You can share this link with your friends...

ONE DIRECTION ZAYNE MALIK QUITS THE BAND, SAYS HE WANTS A NORMAL LIFE.

One of the member of the best selling pop band known as one direction (1D) has called it quit early this week. Following some cheating scandal that erupted after he was found photographed with a lady who was not his girlfriend. the 22 year old dropped out of the live concert and flew back home solo, saying he needed to take some rest due to emotional distress.
But now, the word is he has called it quit with the band and he wants to live a normal life. Millions of fans are not happy with this, as countless of tweets and statements has been made saying, ''quitting the band is not the solution, because he is already famous.''

I was really devastated when I heard this, because I love this band so much. They are so talented and they all look good together. Guys, what are your thoughts on this?
Will the band get over this and keep making more music or this is will cause a major split of one of the biggest boy-band in the history.

I AM A WOMAN - A POEM

I am a woman of great integrity.
I have what it takes to make things right in the world.
I am stronger than I look.
I am tougher than I sound.
Yes, I have made mistakes
But who are you to judge?
Let he who is without fault be the first to cast the stone

Which is why I rise from my mistakes
I learn from my pasts
I strife to make things better for myself
and those around me

I have plans
I have got the ideas
That would blow your mind
and even your socks off
Only if you gimme the chance
And stop regarding me as a minority

I am a woman with a great mind
with an outstanding personality
a good character
and a cautioned tongue

Treat me as such
Do not disregard me
I am important.

TOP 5 TIPS INTO REDISCOVERING YOURSELF

Hey guys, today I am feeling really inspired about redefining ones path and I came up with these tips that would make things easier for those who are passing through some traumatic phase. Perhaps you feel lost and you are not sure of what to do next. Fear can be very dominating - that little voice in your head that keeps telling you its over and the worst part is you actually want to believe it and just give up!
We all know its easier said  than done when someone tells you to ''just forget the past and move on''. Yeah, the thing is we are different, hence we have different ways of handling pain. While some could just say ''screw it'' and forget about it, others would breakdown completely and become really depressed.

The truth is pain sucks!

But you can't expect life to be a bed of roses all the time. The journey through life is not a straight-forward type. So you just have to be strong and believe in yourself. These are the few tips that got me through my lowest moments.

  • Untangle yourself from that toxic environment where it all started in the first place. As soon as you do this, you are taking the first bold step towards living a better life.
  • Surround yourself with positive things. So as not to go running back to the old ways; Let your mind be in a positive mood always. Studies show that being around healthy(positive) environment helps to suppress depression.
  • Occupy yourself with new activities. Perhaps you just feel lost and uncoordinated, to rediscover yourself, engaging in new activities helps. An ideal mind is a devil's workshop. This might sound difficult at first, but I assure you that it helps. Just make sure its something you are comfortable with.
  • Share your burden with experienced people. A problem shared is problem half solved. Now, this tip could be tricky if you share your thoughts with someone who has no clue on how he?she can help you. Approach the qualified ones, the experienced types. It could be a therapist, religious mentor, family member or role model.
  • Have faith in yourself. After all said and done, if the belief that you can be anything you want to be regardless of how bad you messed up in the past is not there, then you are basically back to square 1! Believe in yourself, always work towards being a better version of yourself.
Finally, know that the only person capable of redefining you is YOU. So if Life gives you a reason to give up, you give life a reason to shut up!

POST MOTHER'S DAY CELEBRATION- HOW WELL DO MOTHERS ''KNOW'' US?

Yesterday was the official mother's day and it got everyone (almost everyone) posting pictures and saying nice things about their mums like never before. Social media went crazy yesterday over this, with beautiful pictures of various mothers and heart-felt messages appreciating their mothers (including me, no kidding my mum is awesome!). It was really beautiful to see.  There is nothing compared to the love you have for your mother (obviously), that unconditional feeling you share with each other and seeing her as a priceless asset.
However, the relationship most people have with their mother these days is not as deep as it should be. especially African Mothers. Don't get me wrong, African Parents are awesome. But there are some major hitch that are really affecting the mother-child relationship.
Taking most teenagers as a point of view, many of the teenagers find it really difficult to express their inner thoughts especially Teenagers growing up to adulthood. When you notice new changes in your body and you feel really scared or intimidated, you would wish to share this information with someone-most especially your parents. But you all agree with me that not all parents are easy to approach. Now, the issue is, not every parent is approachable. Most especially African Parents. But since we are focusing on Mothers, so let us just stick to them.

I as a person love movies (a lot!). I watch a lot of foreign movies especially teen dramas and few of African movies which focus on family relationship. You would notice how its so easy for them to talk to their Folks about school, girl talk, boy issues, teenage experience and lots more. Even though we know it is all make-believe and entertainment, but to be honest, watching these ''make believe'' mothers move close to their kids (teens) and wanting to know about their daily activities and troubles really makes you wish you had that type of relationship with your mum.

Down to reality, many teens find it hard to tell their Parents about their anything and I mean anything because of fear of being scolded, restricted lifestyle, punishments and so on. When this happen, they tend to make the wrong choices. They seek advice from friends and people who do not have enough experience on their own. Many mothers believe in stern warnings and harsh conversation, scary threats. These things won't solve anything, they would only make it worse. Tough love is necessary and recommended but not in every cases. There are sometimes when ''few minutes of gentle listening and talking'' will just do the trick.

To Parents, especially Mothers, try to listen to your children, talk to them advise them gently like the adult they are becoming. Young adults hide a lot in their mind. They really want to share these thoughts with you but most times, you are not always available. Do not be too far from them (us). They need you. Yes, they appreciate your provision of basic needs like fees, clothing, food, shelter  and the likes but they need you-psychologically and spiritually too.

If ten of African Parents can try these, things will be better. The level of communication would improve. Their academics will also improve, because whenever they have a problem in school, they share it with you and you give them good advice since you are experienced.
Remember, everyone can be a mother or a father but not anyone can be a ''mum'' or ''dad''.  This is the 2015, stop trying to use the old fashioned ways to bring up Teens of this age, Step up the game!

GOALS-the key to everything!

Goals?
There is this website i found a while ago, saying stuffs about writing and I got something really useful from it. I got a really nice piece of advice. Goals.
Yes, making goals for yourself is a very good  thing, especially when you want to figure out how you want to plan out your life. While some might see it as cliches or totally unnecessary,I see it as important and I am not talking about crappy resolutions that deep down you know it will not work out. I am talking about discovering what you want out of life and keeping your eyes on the prize.

What are your goals? Have you been working towards it?
To start with, write down all your short-term goals (i.e those quick things you want to work towards withing a short period of time.) and your long-term goals(the plans that are not in your ''nearest'' future).

Not just write, work towards them. Life is too short to live an uncoordinated life. Always try to be a better version of yourself,

Do this, and you are working towards a better future.
